Corner Pocket serves a dual purpose as the name of my blog.
"Corner Pocket" is one of my favorite tunes from Count Basie's classic album, April in Paris. Composed by Freddy Green, who played rhythm guitar with Basie for decades, the song with lyrics by Don Wolf became a standard with singers, "Until I Met You."
Corner Pocket also alludes to the years I spent in high school hanging around a Worcester pool room where the characters were colorful, there was a life lesson in every cue shot, and the jukebox was stocked with the latest in Motown and Southern soul.
